Last night, I came across a documentary on Netflix, Monk with a Camera.

It is the story of Nicholas Vreeland. His father was a diplomat. He grew up all over the world. As a teenager, he had a car in Paris with diplomatic plates. His grandmother was Diana Vreeland, the editor of Vogue. Family friends included Richard Avedon and Irving Penn.

Then, after meeting the Dalai Lama, he gave it all up. Everything but the photography.

An absolutely fascinating story. Watch it.
